Ms. Cox is the first openly transgender actress to receive an Emmy nomination. While Hollywood has been increasingly open to portraying transgendered individuals in a positive light -- such as Jarod Leto's Oscar-winning turn last year a transgendered woman in Dallas Buyers Club -- even the progressive entertainment industry falls prey to the stereotype that transgendered people are just men or women in drag. Transgender Inmate Seeking Electrolysis <p></p><p>The chief psychiatrist for the Massachusetts Department of Correction says a transgender inmate who won a court order for taxpayer-funded sex-change surgery has no medical need for further electrolysis treatments.</p><p>Dr. Robert Diener testified Monday on Michelle Kosilek's request to have additional hair-removal treatments.
