new york state museum http://wamc.org en Rare Recording Of MLK Speech Found http://wamc.org/post/rare-recording-mlk-speech-found <p>The New York State Museum in Albany is celebrating an important find on this Martin Luther King Day — a recording of a 1962 speech by the civil rights leader that hadn’t been heard since it was delivered in New York City. The museum received a reel-to-reel tape of the speech celebrating the 100 anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation in the late 1970’s, but didn’t hear it until this past November. Museum director Mark Schaming says it’s a landmark moment for the museum.
