Champlain EMS en Driver Dies in Ambulance Crash on Northern NY Road <p>Authorities say the driver of a volunteer ambulance had a fatal heart attack, causing an accident in northern New York that left two medical crew members and a patient hospitalized.<br><br>State police say 45-year-old Eric Monty of Mooers was driving the Champlain EMS ambulance when it ran off the road at a curve and hit a ditch and then an embankment around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday in Altona, northwest of Plattsburgh, near the Canadian border.<br><br>Monty was pronounced dead at the scene.<br><br>Ambulance crew members Susan Roberts and Peter Coulombe and patient Gary Lamarche were injured.
