Officials hope the elevator helps add to the more than 700,000 Walkway visitors a year.</p><p>Democratic State Senator Terry Gipson took the 70-second ride 21 stories up in the elevator that has three glass observation windows.</p><p>“It was great,” Gipson remarked. “It’s a very scenic ride. I would highly recommend it. County officials say she is the oldest county resident.</p><p>Florence or “Flo” Williams, is the oldest resident of both Poughkeepsie and Dutchess County. Joseph Ryan is outreach coordinator for the Dutchess County Office for the Aging. Inspired by the natural beauty of the area he created “Picture Perfect” and it was first heard in a concert in the summer of 2000.</p><p>It has grown into an annual festival, showcasing music performed by world-class musicians, fittingly complemented by breathtaking views of the Hudson River Valley as backdrop.</p><p>Jazz in the Valley has an intergenerational programming philosophy. Its programming allows living legends and younger voices to continue to expand the jazz idiom.
