Comedian and multi-media powerhouse, Mo’Nique, will perform four shows at Levity Live in West Nyack, NY this weekend - two on Friday and two on Saturday.

In 1999, Mo’Nique’s career took a quantum leap once she landed the starring role as Nikki Parker on UPN’s hit television series, “The Parkers.” Mo’Nique was also the first female to host NBC’s nationally televised program, “Showtime at the Apollo” in 2002. She carried the legendary torch for three consecutive seasons. In 2010 she won the Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for the film, Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire.

Aziz Ansari will be at The Palace Theatre in Albany, NY on Tuesday, May 14th at 8pm as part of this leg of his Buried Alive tour. This tour will result in his third hour-long stand-up special - the previous two being Aziz Ansari: Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening and Dangerously Delicious.

Stand-up comedian, Demetri Martin, brings his “Point Your Face at this Tour” to The Calvin in Northampton, MA tonight. (He will also be at The Egg in Albany on Saturday - but that show is sold out.)

Demetri Martin has appeared on Comedy Central Presents, has two one-hour Comedy Central stand-up specials, he was the Trendspotting/Youth Correspondent on The Daily Show, a writer on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, had a Comedy Central Series entitled Important Things with Demetri Martin, appeared on HBO’s Flight of the Conchords (which I mention because it is a personal favorite), and starred in Ang Lee’s film, Taking Woodstock.

Next Tuesday, Demetri’s new book, Point Your Face at This: Drawings, will be available - it is published by Grand Central and is available for pre-order now. The book is a new collection of Demetri’s drawings - single panel, single page line drawings like the one’s he presents on a large pad of paper during many of his stand-up shows.

British comedian Eddie Izzard will bring his brilliant and unique form of stand-up comedy to the stage at The Bardavon in Poughkeepsie, New York this Saturday, February 16th (as of this posting, tickets are available for the 6pm show, available on The Bardavon website or by calling 845-473-2072).

Comedian, dramatic actor of stage and screen, activist, transvestite, marathon runner, any one descriptor (or even a bundle of them) applied to Izzard would fail to summarize his career or the man himself. Still - with his help - we try in this segment.

Stand-up comedian, Marc Maron, kicks of his “Out of the Garage” Tour at The Egg in Albany, NY this Friday, February 1st.

The title of the show refers to the home-studio in his garage – the primary location used to record his very popular podcast “WTF with Marc Maron.” The podcast features perceptive stream-of-consciousness introductions and lengthy (usually one-on-one, occasionally one-on-two for example: Tenacious D) conversations with iconic entertainment personalities.
