Plattsburgh, NY – Forty-two acre Crab Island, about two miles off-shore of Plattsburgh in Lake Champlain, is notorious for its poison ivy. The island is only accessible by boat and the overgrowth makes it difficult to walk around. But Crab Island has had an intriguing role in the region's history. Few people realize that it is a National Military Cemetery with its soil hiding the graves of at least 150 veterans from an early war of this nation. Montpelier, VT – One of Vermont's major party candidates for Governor has changed their party designation on the fall ballot. Gubernatorial candidate Anthony Pollina will run as an Independent instead of a Progressive. Pundits say the move may have more ramifications for the Progressive Party than it does for the candidate.
