Weathering the storm

Pittsfield, MA – The Berkshire Delegation is appealing to Gov. Mitt Romney for state funds to aid those effected by severe flooding in parts of the county over the weekend. Our Berkshire Bureau, Chief Carrie Saldo spoke to residents as they were cleaning up their homes Tuesday afternoon.

Tropical Storm Tammy Hits Northeast

Poughkeepsie, NY – Emergency response teams in the Hudson Valley are assessing the amount of damage caused by the rainstorm that hit the Northeast over the holiday weekend. In parts of Dutchess and Ulster Counties, the total amount of rainfall broke century-old records.

Warm Fall Means Greener Apples and Less Profits For Orchardists

Plattsburgh, NY – The unusually warm fall has slowed the ripening of some apple varieties, particularly the McIntosh, Vermont and northern New York's dominant apple variety. Making trim kids

Bennington, VT – A health organization which services patients in southern Vermont and New York state has found that 25 percent of area youth are either obese now or risk suffering major weight problems. And Southwestern Vermont Health Care has developed a program to help combat that problem.

Trust funds new substance abuse center

Pittsfield, MA – A new program that addresses youth substance abuse, a problem that has been on the rise in the area over past half-decade, has been established in Berkshire County. The program is made possible by a newly-established trust meant to honor the memory of a man who died of a drug overdose six years ago.

Williamstown, MA – Two week's worth of dance and theater events, marking a new season at a brand new $50 million arts complex comes to a close Monday evening.
