State report shows high cancer incidence in Western Mass.

Northampton, MA – The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has recently released a report of cancer incidence in cities and towns in the state. The numbers are high in Western Massachusetts for certain types of cancer-but one of the region's top oncologists says it is not necessarily a cause for alarm.

Vermont Adopts Stricter California Rules on Car Emissions

Montpelier, VT – Vermont has become the first state in the Northeast to adopt strict car emission standards aimed at reducing global warming emissions from cars. The rules are based on the California emissions standards. Supporters of the move say it is the biggest single thing the state can do to fight global warming. Ski Resort Plans Cause Concern

Tupper Lake, NY – Pennsylvania-based investors have finalized their purchase of the former Big Tupper Ski Area in the Adirondacks, and are planning to move forward with a major development at the site. But environmentalists say the proposal to build a mega-resort with great-camp style homes, condominiums and other development would fragment the surrounding Adirondack forest.
