Youngster aids Katrina surivivors

Williamstown, MA – A local 10-year-old wanted to help Hurricane Katrina survivors. So, she and a few friends put their heads together, greased a few baking tins, and didn't look back.

Vermont Officials Collect Needed Supplies for Hurricane Victims

Montpelier, VT – Vermont officials are mounting their own Gulf Coast relief effort. Locations have been set up across the state today and Saturday for Vermonters to donate basic supplies that will be trucked to Hurricane Katrina victims. State officials say the supplies they gather can be in the hands of victims before the end of the holiday weekend.

Albany Motorists React To Price At The Pump

Albany, NY – Hurricane Katrina is being blamed for the sudden spike, because it knocked some oil refineries offline. Albany has seen an average increase of 40 cents per gallon over the past week, hovering right around the 3.00 mark. Our Capital District Bureau Chief Arielle Trimm talked with Albany motorists to see how they are coping.

Plattsburgh, NY – Gasoline prices are more than three dollars a gallon at many gas stations across the region, and many people want to know why. But local retailers say they're caught between a rock and a hard place - bearing the brunt of consumers' ire and unable to control the prices at the pump.

New Shopping Center in Catskill

Catskill, NY – Plans to build a mega-mall called The Marketplace in Newburgh, New York, and The Landing Project, which is a proposal to build a large scale shopping center with condominiums in Kingston, New York, have both been met with opposition.
However, developers who are looking to build a shopping plaza in the Village of Catskill, New York, are receiving a warm welcome.
