Barrington Stage On Verge of Pittsfield Deal

Pittsfield, MA – Three Drama Desk awards for the Barrington Stage Company of Sheffield, Massachusetts is more good news for the theater group, following six Tony nominations. This all comes as Barrington Stage seems to be on the verge of moving to Pittsfield.

Town Residents Consider DuBois Recognition

Great Barrington, MA – Residents in Great Barrington, Massachusetts are voting on a non-binding referendum that would recognize the town as the birth-place of civil rights leader W-E-B DuBois -- which has raised some controversy because of Dubois ties to communism.

Committee considers same day voter registration

Montpelier, VT – A committee of the Vermont House is expected to decide this week whether to support a proposal that would allow people to register to vote on Election Day.
If the measure eventually becomes law, Vermont would join only six other states that allow voters to register on Election Day.

Job Gains for Hudson Valley, NY State

Albany, NY – The Hudson Valley gained 19,100 jobs from April 2004 to April 2005, according to statistics released yesterday by the state Labor Department. Statewide, there were job gains of over 88,000. WAMC's Hank Gross reports.

Best Buddies Comes to W. Mass.

Holyoke, MA – Best Buddies is a non-profit group that matches people with- and with-out intellectual disabilities for one-to-one friendships. The group has more than 1,000 chapters.
