No Reprieve for CT Serial Killer

Hartford, CT – A New London judge has ruled that convicted serial killer Michael Ross is
competent to give up appealing his death sentence. Ross is scheduled to die by lethal injection on January 26th. As WAMC's Connecticut Correspondent Av Harris reports, the move puts Ross one step closer to being the first person executed in Connecticut in 44 years.

NY Auto Insurers Lower Rates

Kingston, NY – Some of New York's auto insurers are lowering their rates after prompting by the state's insurance superintendent. He says the rate reductions are possible because of a decline in no-fault auto insurance fraud, which has led to a large drop in losses over a time period of about one-and-a-half years. State Union Leader Blasts Vt. Governor

County Supports Test Burn

Sanders Says Verizon Flaunts Labor Law

Northampton, MA – Workers at Verizon Wireless are trying to form a union. The company is opposing their efforts. Now a member of Congress is saying Verizon may have violated federal law in its efforts to stop its workers from unionizing. WAMC's Eesha Williams reports.

Hinchey Checks on Ukraine Election Efforts

Kingston, NY – The controversy surrounding the recent presidential election in Ukraine prompted a visit from from a delegation of six U.S. Congressional members, including one from New York --Democratic Congressman Maurice Hinchey. The delegation was there to underscore the need for this Sunday's presidential election to be free and fair. Congressman Hinchey spoke about the trip with WAMC's Hudson Valley Bureau Chief Allison Dunne.
