Albany, NY – Eleanore Velez is a Frances Perkins Scholar at Mount Holyoke College where she is pursuing a double major in Latin American and American Studies. A wife and mother of two young children, Eleanore is a legal Mexican immigrant who has resided in the Berkshires since 1999. She will be the featured speaker at the upcoming South County Unitarian Speaker Series at Simon's Rock College in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

Power line proposal threatened

Kingston, NY – First, New York state passed a law aimed at preventing the New York Regional Interconnect powerline project. Now, the feds are looking to do the same. Hudson Valley Congressman Maurice Hinchey announced three bills yesterday that would prevent the New York Interconnect and other projects like it. WAMC's Julia Taylor reports.
