UMass Riot Could Lead to Expulsions

AMherst, ma – When the University of Massachusetts football team lost to Appalachian State on Friday, over 1000 UMass Amherst students rioted, causing minor injuries to some police officers, and extensive damage. Now a number of students are facing severe disciplinary action. Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Dan Bobkoff has more.

University of Vermont Eliminates SSNs as ID Number, Setting Example for New Vermont Law

Burlington, VT – The University of Vermont is changing their system of identification numbers. Like many universities over the years, the college had been using social security numbers. But several years ago, the institution began to phase out public use of SSN's. The state of Vermont has also deemed the use of the individual's government issued number off limits. Schumer aims to bump up veteran benefits

North Greenbush, NY – New York U.S. Senator Charles Schumer rounded out a tour of all 62 counties in the state today. He ended at the New York National Guard's 42nd Rainbow Division headquarters in North Greenbush, where he discussed a bill to increase veterans benefits for National Guard and reserve troops.
