Lawmakers Call On Governor to Reopen Safe Sex Website

Montpelier, VT – More than 70 Vermont lawmakers have written to the governor and the Secretary of Human Services asking that the Health Department reactivate an award-winning, state-sponsored web site that answers young men's questions about sex. The site, themanphone-dot-org, was taken down after a link to a pornographic web site was discovered. And while that link has been removed, the website remains dormant.

Bishop Hubbard: a post-Katrina New Orleans

Albany, NY – Bishop Howard Hubbard of the Roman Catholic Diocese in Albany returned this week from a trip to Louisiana. The Bishop toured the devastated areas of New Orleans and checked up on volunteers from the Capital Region stationed in Baton Rouge to help Katrina evacuees.

WAMC's Capital District Bureau Chief Jessica Bloustein spoke with the Bishop about his trip.

NY horseracing's future discussed

Albany, NY – The future of one of the country's premier racetracks at Saratoga is hanging in the balance, with the troubled New York State Racing Association's franchise expiring at the end of 2007. Before another organization can sign on for the franchise, the state must set guidelines-guidelines that the city of Saratoga Springs and the county of Saratoga want to play a part in creating.
