Health organization treating pain and addiction

Lenox, MA – Berkshire Health Systems has embarked on a Community Pain Management Project in order to better treat cronic and acute pain patients. As part of that project, the largest health care provider in Berkshire County decided to address the abuse of the types of medications often prescribed to treat those conditions. The state Department of Public Health is applauding the effort, calling it a cutting edge program. Our Berkshire Bureau Chief, Carrie Saldo, has this report;

Massachusetts National Guardsmen Get Big Welcome Home from Iraq

West Springfield, ma – It was a joyous homecoming in West Springfield today for more than 150 Soldiers from the B Company 181st Engineer Battalion of the Massachusetts Army National Guard. They had served a year in Iraq. Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Dan Bobkoff was at the event.

Proposed Legislation Put Forth By Congressional Opponent in 23rd District Race

Scientists Counter EPA Research on Amount of Mercury Deposition on Vermont

Underhill Center, VT – Some Vermont researchers say their data indicates the federal Environmental Protection Agency is wrong about mercury deposits in Vermont. The EPA contends that the mercury is mainly coming from other sources. But local scientists say storm patterns that move into Vermont carry mercury pollution from U.S. industrial regions, including the Midwest, the Ohio Valley and Pennsylvania.
