Albany, NY – Forty-three land trust projects in New York State will get a $450,000 boost from the national not-for-profit Land Trust Alliance and the State Department of Environmental Conservation. At the same time, a $200 million environmental protection fund proposal for next year is still caught between lawmakers and the governor as the session nears a close. Montpelier, VT – Vermont Governor Jim Douglas is calling for an emergency dairy summit and is also seeking federal disaster assistance to help the state's farmers deal with what he calls a perfect storm of low milk prices, high fuel costs and bad weather.
