Albany, NY – Officials in Saratoga Springs now have the go-ahead to probe the shores of Saratoga Lake. A supreme court ruling is allowing the city to finish putting together a plan for using the lake as its next water supply, despite the objections of many property owners. Plattsburgh, NY – Last week the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and State Department announced that people from the US, Canada, Mexico, and Bermuda must have a passport when flying into the United States beginning January 23, 2007. Those concerned about changes in passport rules and regulations emphasize that these rules are for air travelers and are NOT for travelers crossing land borders. Kingston, NY – A referendum on funding open space preservation near the Shawangunk Ridge in the Hudson Valley came down to the wire. Vote tallies, which are unofficial until Friday, show the measure winning by just one vote in the town of Gardiner, and by seven votes in Marbletown. WAMC's Julia Taylor has more.
