President and CEO

Dr. Alan Chartock is professor emeritus at the University at Albany. He hosts the weekly Capitol Connection series, heard on public radio stations around New York. The program for almost twelve years, higlighted interviews with Governor Mario Cuomo and now continues with conversations with state political leaders. Dr. Chartock also appears each week on The Media Project and the Roundtable and offers commentary on Morning Edition, weekdays at 7:37 am.

During his long tenure at WAMC/Northeast Public Radio, Alan Chartock has interviewed interesting people of every stripe. From Governors, Senators and top lawmakers, to newsmakers including World War II heroes and former UN weapons inspectors. Dr. Chartock has also had the chance for in-depth chats with artists, musicians, actors and directors...authors...you name it!

Question of the Day - Fiscal Cliff Deal?

The House of Representatives late Tuesday easily approved emergency bipartisan legislation sparing all but a sliver of America’s richest from sharp income tax hikes -- while setting up another “fiscal cliff” confrontation in a matter of weeks.

Lawmakers voted 257-167 to send the compromise to President Barack Obama to sign into law. Eighty-five Republicans and 172 Democrats backed the bill, which passed in the Senate by an 89-8 margin. Opposition comprised 151 Republicans and 16 Democrats.

A Hudson Valley horse owner and breeder licensed in New York since 1984, Kayne is the creator and host of the television series Unbridled and author of the upcoming book Bandit’s Story, an account of six months in the life of an average racehorse. Kayne’s husband, Andrew Elsbree, is a certified journeyman farrier who is licensed to put shoes on racehorses at New York Racing Association-run tracks.
