Quebec Delegate General Discusses Importance of New York-Quebec Relationship

The Quebec Delegate General is the province’s ambassador to the U.S. The government office he leads in New York is Quebec’s primary representation in the U.S., promoting provincial business, investment, government, education and cultural affairs. Delegate General Andre Boisclair is in Lake Placid this weekend to attend a cross border conference.  He spoke with North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley about the economic links between Quebec and New York’s North Country.

HHS Awards Navigator Grants to Facilitate Insurance Marketplaces

States are preparing to implement their health care exchanges as required under the federal Affordable Care Act. On October 1st, individuals will be able to enroll in the marketplaces and choose their insurance coverage. On Thursday, the U.S. Health and Human Services Agency announced grants to help states enroll individuals in those marketplaces.

Vermont Health Dept. Releases Immunization Rates

Shumlin: Vt. Yankee 'Process Does Not End'

Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin is expressing disagreement with a major court decision blocking the state's efforts to close the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant.

Governor Shumlin, who is on vacation,  issued a statement that says while Wednesday's decision from the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York blocks the Legislature's efforts to close the plant it does not halt review of the Vernon reactor's operations by the state Public Service Board.
Vermont Public Service Department Deputy Commissioner Darren Springer says it is a key element in the decision.
