  The Patrick administration in Massachusetts is taking steps to address the growing problem of senior dementia. A new program at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke is helping veterans and their families cope with Alzheimer’s disease.  WAMC”s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill reports.

   Bill McGill of Montgomery said he was stressed out a few years ago, when he realized his father..now 90…had been wondering off and might have Alzheimer’s disease. Having  him live at  the state run Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke has brought peace of mind.

    Casino giant MGM Resorts  International is going to unveil plans Wednesday for a resort casino in Springfield Massachusetts.  WAMC”s Paul Tuthill reports.

  A top official with a Nevada based gaming  company says a proposed casino in Springfield Massachusetts would be the  largest gambling facility it currently operates. The second largest public school system in Massachusetts will make condoms available to students as young as 12 with the start of the new school year next week.   Friday is the deadline to register to vote in next month’s primary in Massachusetts.  WAMC’s Paul Tuthill reports.

   State and local officials , Wednesday, dedicated the new Putnam Vocational Technical High School. The 315 thousand square foot building includes state of the art facilities for 14 hundred students.
