1 VT Town OK’s 2nd Cell Tower, Another Rejects Idea

One Vermont town supports a proposal to build a second cellular tower, but residents in another town aren't welcoming one.

In Newfane, the selectboard said late last week that it supports an AT&T proposal to build a new 140-foot tower, designed to improve cell service in the route 30 corridor.

AT&T is developing its first tower on Oak Hill Road in South Newfane. It was approved by the Public Service Board in March.

In Putney, residents at a public meeting weren't so keen on the building of a 130-foot tower, also by AT&T.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports some neighbors who would see the tower from their land don't want it. AT&T said it would be needed to improve wireless and cell service around Putney and Interstate 91.
