Al Gore to Speak at Hampshire College Today

Former Vice President Al Gore will be in western Massachusetts today to speak at the inauguration of Hampshire College President Jonathan Lash.  WAMC’s Paul Tuthill reports…

The former vice president who has campaigned to educate people about climate change is a friend of Lash who is an environmental attorney and former head of the World Resources Institute.  Lash will be formally installed as Hampshire College’s sixth president. 

Lash said the small liberal arts college has students and faculty who are independent thinkers passionate about change…

“And I just think those are exactly the kinds of people we need inventing solutions in the 21st century.”

Tickets have been distributed to more than 2,000 people for the ceremonies that will take place under a large tent put up in the center of the campus.
