Carlos Fuentes, one of the most influential writers in the Latin American world, died Tuesday at a hospital in Mexico City. He was 83. A prolific writer, Fuentes wrote novels, short stories and plays, as well as political nonfiction and essays that criticized the Mexican government during the 1980s and '90s.
Pittsfield, MA – Bela Fleck is a world-renowned banjo musician who recently finished a documentary called "Throw Down Your Heart", about his tour to Africa to explore the roots of the banjo. He is currently touring the nation playing with African musicians he met along his travels. Tonight, he plays in Pittsfield's Colonial Theater, Berkshire Bureau Chief Charlie Deitz spoke with him before the show.
