Albany city officials are planning to cut a bit of government red tape that will save time and money.
The department of buildings and regulatory compliance is the first agency to benefit from a deal inked with a software company to add an "ePortal" to Albany's website. It's called "EnerGov" - the platform developed by Tyler technologies will change the way constituents apply for permits, submit plans and pay fees. "EnerGov" offers round the clock accesibility and eliminates the need to travel to city hall, saving users time, fuel and parking costs. Other city agencies will eventually use the portal. The official announcement and demonstration of the new technology is to be made Thursday morning at Capitalize Albany on Lodge Street.
