An Ulster County resident formally is announcing Wednesday her campaign to challenge Republican Congressman John Faso in New York’s 19th congressional district.
Modena resident Sue Sullivan is the latest Democrat to announce a bid in a field that now numbers up to six potential candidates. Not all have launched formal campaigns. Sullivan is a business consultant taking her first shot at elected office.
“And I don’t think that there’s anyone that has emerged to date that has the qualifications and experience and deep roots in this district that I have,” Sullivan says.
Sullivan says her mother challenged her to run for office when they attended the Women’s March on Washington in January. Faso is a freshman representative in what is considered a swing district.
