Art Sale at Vassar to Fund Education in Haiti
By Allison Dunne
Poughkeepsie, NY – A fundraising sale of Haitian art is on tap at Poughkeepsie's Vassar College this week. The proceeds go entirely to advance education in one of Haiti's villages. Given the politically volatile climate in Haiti this year, those charged with selecting the art could not travel to the poorest country in the Western hemisphere, and instead imported tens of thousands of dollars worth of art, sight unseen, onto the college's campus. WAMC's Hudson Valley Bureau Chief Allison Dunne filed this report.
