Businesses Question State Reps at Business Forum
The Plattsburgh North Country Chamber of Commerce held its annual Legislative breakfast forum Friday morning. It’s an opportunity for the community to meet and pose questions to their Senate and Assembly representatives in Albany.
Chamber President and CEO Garry Douglas reviewed the results of the just-released Business Confidence Survey before introducing Republican Senator Betty Little and Assembly members Republicans Janet Duprey and Dan Stec. Douglas says the forum provides the business community a collective opportunity to interact and pose questions to their legislative representatives.
The state legislators faced questions on numerous topics, including community college funding, unfunded mandates and health care concerns over the new gun control legislation.
Workforce Investment Board Director A.J. Siwek says all businesses face challenges in dealing with government cutbacks.
Freshman Assemblyman Dan Stec represents the 114th Assembly District, which includes Essex and Warren Counties, and parts of Saratoga and Washington counties.
About 160 people attended the Legislative forum.
