Clinton Urges NRC to Require Backup Power
By Allison Dunne
Buchanan, NY – One of New York's U.S. Senators is urging the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to mandate backup power for emergency sirens at the nation's nuclear power plants. Her call comes after the NRC recently rejected a petition to require such backup power, including at New York's Indian Point. An NRC spokesman says the agency is sticking with its initial reasons for rejecting the petition. More from WAMC's Hudson Valley Bureau Chief Allison Dunne.
