Close Congressional Race in Northern NY
By Pat Bradley
The race between the incumbent Democrat and the Republican challenger in NY’s newly drawn 21st Congressional District remained close all evening.
The race stayed within a few percentage points between incumbent Democrat Bill Owens and Republican Matt Doheny all evening.
It was just after midnight, when about 4-thousand votes separated the contenders, that Congressman Bill Owens arrived at Democratic Headquarters in Plattsburgh.
There are between 16-thousand and 20-thousand absentee ballots to be counted. Congressman Owens had requested that voting machines be impounded.
