Closed 122-Year-Old Rural Resort To Be Repaired And Reopen

A rustic resort near Vermont's Canadian border is reopening, and officials say they've received a flood of inquires following the announcement.
The board of directors of Quimby Country closed the 122-year-old resort earlier this year.

The seasonal lodge is reopening in 2017 after receiving a private loan and monetary donations.

Vermont Public Radio reports that the board of directors says the money will go toward repairs that had been deferred along with other cost-cutting measures with the goal of restoring the quality of guests' stays.

Officials say new programs are being considered to help generate money, including a timber harvest.

The lodge's 19 cabins have wood stoves. There are no televisions or cell service.

Wi-Fi is currently limited, but the resort is considering changing that.
