Green Mountain College in Vermont will host a memorial gathering for a student who died in an apparent drowning near campus.
The college will host the gathering at noon Thursday in the labyrinth for 20-year-old Fuquan Ford.

Police say Ford, of Albany, New York, went swimming alone in the Poultney River and was found unresponsive Monday evening.

First responders tried to revive Ford, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Trooper Patrick Slaney says they are investigating it as an accidental death. Ford's body has been taken to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

The Rutland Herald reports the college says it will hold another celebration of Ford's life when students return to campus.
