Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants to build a new rail station to serve the city of Schenectady to replace a small, decrepit 44-year-old facility.

The Democratic governor led reporters on a tour of the station Wednesday. He said the facility is "way past its prime."

Cuomo included $15 million for a new station in his proposed state budget. Lawmakers are currently reviewing the suggested spending plan.

A final decision on the budget is expected by April 1, the start of the state's new fiscal year.
