Dolly Parton To Open Tanglewood Season

The Boston Symphony Orchestra has announced two acts that will open and close the 2016 Tanglewood season.The concert won’t be an eight-hour shift, but Dolly Parton is set to open Tanglewood’s 80th season June 17th. Parton’s career is generation-spanning, with an astounding 25 songs reaching number one on the Billboard Country charts. She’s a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Also newly announced is Keith Lockhart’s appearance with the Boston Pops Swing Orchestra September 3rd, which will close out the season. Earth, Wind & Fire, Jackson Browne and Train are among the other popular artists coming to Lenox this season.
