Downtown Glens Falls is about to get a $10 million makeover.

State officials on Thursday announced plans to revitalize the city 50 miles north of Albany with an expanded downtown market, high-speed broadband, a new arts trail and the redevelopment of four vacant parcels of land. Additionally, SUNY Adirondack's culinary school will be relocated downtown.

The work is part of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's downtown revitalization initiative, which awarded $10 million apiece to 10 communities around the state. The money is intended to attract new residents, visitors and businesses to downtown areas.

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul traveled to Glens Falls Thursday to announce the details of the work, which will also include funding for small businesses and community organizations.
