The evening will feature guest artist Cantor Ramόn Tasat - a renowned performing artist and scholar who has devoted himself to sharing with the world the beauty of the Ladino language and Sephardic music and culture.
Neil Rolnick, professor of music at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, will present a concert of music for violin, piano, and computer at 7:30 PM Wednesday night at EMPAC at Rensselaer in Troy. The concert features a selection of his most recent compositions from 2003 to the present.
Rolnick’s program showcases solo and duo works (plus computer) he has written in the past decade, a departure from the works for large ensembles that have made up the bulk of his recent work.
The Octavo Singers of Schenectady is an 80-year-old community chorus of about 100 singers. They generally perform large sacred works and present their concerts almost exclusively in big urban churches and synagogues.
This Sunday, December 16th at 3pm, The Octavo Singers will present Handel’s Messiah at the Union College Memorial Chapel. The Octavo Singers’ Artistic Director and Conductor, Curtis Funk, joins us.
The concert will be hosted by Melissa Auf der Maur and will feature with multi-Grammy nominee, Meshell Ndegeocello, Tommy Stinson from The Replacements and Guns ‘N’ Roses, and cellist Melora Creager from Rasputina.
