Franklin County Sheriff Enters Northern New York Assembly Race

Last week New York 115th District Assemblywoman Janet Duprey announced she would retire at the end of her term.  The Franklin County sheriff announced Monday that he will run for the seat.
Sheriff Kevin Mulverhill was sworn in January 2011 after working as a corrections officer and a New York State trooper.   He said following discussions with family and advisors over the weekend he decided to enter the race.   “We came to a general agreement that it could be a good position to have and I could do a lot of good things for the North Country, so we decided to move forward.”

Republican Mulverhill faces Democrat D. Billy Jones, chair of the Franklin County Board of Legislators in the race to replace retiring Assemblywoman Janet Duprey.
