Hearing On State Budget To Be Held In Western Massachusetts

Massachusetts legislators will be in Greenfield Tuesday for a hearing on Governor Patrick’s $34.8 billion dollar state budget.
Republican State Senator Michael Knapik, a member of the joint Committee on Ways and Means says he agrees with targeted spending increases for transportation infrastructure and education, but the revenues are problematic.
Governor Patrick has proposed an overhaul of the state’s tax structure to raise revenue by $2 billion dollars. The hearing at Greenfield Community College,is one of a series of 8 taking place around the state to examine different aspects of the budget. This one will focus on education and local aid
