A Middlebury College student whose expulsion for sexual misconduct that occurred overseas was blocked by a federal judge has dropped his lawsuit against the Vermont school.
In a court filing dated Monday, the attorneys for the student, referred to in court documents as John Doe, and the college agreed to dismiss the lawsuit. Middlebury College Vice President Bill Burger says Doe and the college have agreed he "will complete his education elsewhere."
Court documents say Doe was expelled by Middlebury for sexual misconduct that occurred while he was studying abroad. A separate investigation done by the school that sponsored Doe's overseas program cleared him of wrongdoing.
Doe sued and a judge ordered Middlebury to readmit him while his lawsuit was pending.
Doe's attorneys didn't immediately respond to requests for comment.
