Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey said he supports developing high-speed rail service between Springfield and Boston.
Markey endorsed the east-west rail project when asked about it at the town hall meeting the Democrat hosted in Springfield Monday.
He said if Congress approves a massive infrastructure spending bill, the rail project could become a reality.
" And if that happens the sky is the limit for Springfield and I want to be part of making that possible," Markey said.
A feasibility study on east-west rail, proposed by Democratic State Senator Eric Lesser has stalled on Beacon Hill for several years in a row.
