A group of congressional leaders from Massachusetts visited Puerto Rico Friday for an update on Hurricane Maria recovery efforts.

The eight-member delegation included Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey, and Reps. Richard Neal, Jim McGovern, Seth Moulton, Niki Tsongas, Katherine Clark, and Michael Capuano.

They issued a joint statement pledging their support for Puerto Rico.

Neal commented on the humanitarian crisis shortly after the hurricane hit last year.

"This is a tragedy for all members of the American family," Neal said a community meeting in Springfield on Sept. 29, 2017.

The delegation was scheduled to meet with Massachusetts State Troopers who are helping the recovery effort, visit a children’s hospital, a health center, and a shelter, and receive a briefing from homeland security officials.
