Michelle Obama To Visit Western Mass. To Raise Campaign Funds

First Lady Michelle Obama will make a one day trip to western Massachusetts next month to raise money for her husband’s re-election campaign.  WAMC”s Paul Tuthill reports.

The campaign funding raising whirlwind by the First Lady will be on August 3rd and will  include three events beginning with a $2500 per person luncheon at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield.  There will be a reception at the  Colonial Theater in Pittsfield, where James Taylor will perform.  Later in the evening, Mrs Obama will participate in a campaign roundtable and dinner at the Richmond home of Governor Patrick and his wife Diane.  Tickets for the dinner start at $20,000.

All money raised at the event will go to the Obama Victory Fund -- a joint fundraising committee of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and several state Democratic parties.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
