An exhibition featuring the works of impressionist painter Claude Monet and contemporary American artist Ellsworth Kelly goes on display Sunday at The Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts Sunday.The exhibition was designed by minimalist and abstract artist Ellsworth Kelly, who visited and was influenced by the sites and scenes of France that Monet painted, according to The Clark’s senior curator Richard Rand.
“The story that the exhibition tells is completely convincing to me,” Rand said. “That Kelly’s signature style really comes out of this early engagement with Monet’s work when Kelly was a young artist in Paris in the 1940s and early 1950s.”
Kelly is a native of Newburgh, NY. The exhibition will be on display through February 15th.
