A television station says its interview with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo was abruptly canceled when the station said it wanted to ask him about more than his new memoir.

According to WHAM-TV in Rochester,  Cuomo's book publisher HarperCollins arranged the interview for Wednesday night. A Cuomo aide later called, asking the station to limit  questions to the memoir. When the station refused, the interview was canceled.

The off-topic questions were about the governor's race, a local bridge repair project and natural gas drilling. A station official says Cuomo's efforts to promote his own book aren't newsworthy.
