NYS Capitol Honors Black History Month

The state Capitol is hosting an exhibit honoring Black History Month.

The exhibit on the Capitol's second floor honors prominent African-Americans with connections to New York state, ranging from Underground Railroad heroine Harriet Tubman to broadcast journalist Gwen Ifill, who died last year. The exhibit also honors activists, writers and soldiers.

The items on display this month will enter the permanent collection of the new National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.
