A New York state senator from the Hudson Valley wants to see two bridges renamed, including one that is not yet built.

Republican Greg Ball, chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, says he will introduce legislation to name two Hudson Valley bridges in honor of veterans. Ball says he will propose naming the new Tappan Zee Bridge the Purple Heart Memorial Bridge. The second piece of legislation seeks to rename the bridge span on the Taconic State Parkway at Bryant Pond Road in Putnam County the Disabled American Veterans’ Bridge. Ball says he will introduce both bills when the legislature returns in January.
