Obama Nominates Miller As US Attorney For Vermont

Sheehey Furlong & Behm

President Barack Obama has nominated Burlington lawyer Eric Miller to serve as the next U.S. attorney for Vermont.

Obama said in a statement Thursday that Miller's career has been distinguished and impressive. U.S. Senator Patrick J. Leahy, D-Vt., recommended Miller in February.

The 45-year-old Miller has worked at the law offices of Sheehey, Furlong and Behm since 1999 and has been a partner since 2002.

If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Miller would be the permanent replacement for Tris Coffin, who stepped down January 12 to accept a position with a law firm.

Miller's wife, Elizabeth Miller, has been chief of staff for Governor Peter Shumlin since 2013. She leaves at the end of May.
