Pittsfield Farmers Market Offers Benefit Matching Program

Facebook: Downtown Pittsfield Farmers Market

The Downtown Pittsfield Farmers Market is offering low-income senior citizens and WIC recipients double their money at the weekly fair. While some farmers markets double the value of SNAP benefits, Pittsfield’s market is offering to make Senior Farmers Market Nutrition and WIC program dollars go twice as far for fruits and vegetables

“The WIC and the Senior Market coupons are usually valued at $2.50,” explained market manager Jess Conzo. “People can get a whole booklet of them, it just depends on what they are eligible for. We hand them another coupon so it turns their $2.50 into $5.00.”

About 30 vendors populate the Pittsfield Farmers Market Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First Street Common.
