Pittsfield Fire Dept. Investigating Series Of Fires

Pittsfield firefighters and police are investigating four fires set in the city’s Morningside neighborhood early Tuesday morning.Around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday firefighters responded to a fire in a common hallway at 40 Perrine Avenue, according to a Pittsfield Fire Department media report. The fire caused rug, flooring and wall damage, but was quickly put out. Shortly after, firefighters responded to a small garbage fire in front of 76 Plunkett St. and then found a similar fire in front of 72 Plunkett. An area search found a motor vehicle engulfed in flames on Kellogg St.

All fires were brought under control quickly and no injuries were reported. Pittsfield Police detained a person with help from state police.
