A college in Craftsbury, Vermont, says police are investigating a series of incidents, including one in which a building that had been hanging a rainbow flag to recognize the victims of the gay nightclub shooting in Orlando was egged.
Sterling College President Matthew Derr, who is gay, says the incidents began on June 16 following the mass shooting last month.

He says an American flag that was flying at half-staff was ripped from his house and thrown to the ground. Several days later Black Lives Matter signs were stolen from campus.

Vermont Public Radio reports that college officials say nothing has happened since then, but Derr plans to have a community conversation after students return in the fall.

Craftsbury select board member Susan Houston says the incidents are saddening.
