Public Forum Set In Palmer On Mohegan Casino Project

Casino backers in the town of Palmer Massachusetts are anxiously awaiting a public presentation next week from Mohegan Sun, which has looked to develop a resort casino in the town for several years.

Mohegan Sun officials are expected to reveal changes to their original plans for a $600 mllion dollar resort casino development in Palmer to keep up with the competition that has emerged in western Massachusetts in the last six months.   Palmer Town Councilor Paul Burns says he’ll be looking for Mohegan Sun officials to explain what their project will mean for regional economic growth.

Burns is encouraging a large turnout  Monday night to demonstrate the community’s support for the casino project.  Palmer is competing with two projects in Springfield and one in West Springfield, for the lone casino license available in western Massachusetts.
